"It's called a hug, Sammy~"
At first glance, many would not think that Samus Aran, number one bounty hunter in the galaxy, had a weakness. She had her powerful armor, constructed by beings of a higher order, she had her ruthless skill, her cold exterior.
But she did, indeed, have a weakness. One that, if found out by her enemies, would not only endanger her life, it would also shame her name, her legend, for the rest of eternity.
Samus Aran could not resist the power of the puppy dog eyes. So when Peach had come up to her earlier that day and begged for her company, Samus was going to reply with a curt "No".
But then Peach, the evil, pink-clad witch, had clasped both hands in front of her chest and pouted, her bottom lip quivering just the slightest bit, and her eyes so big and watery that it just about broke Samus' resolve. Resisting the urge to give it, Samus had opened her mouth to say something--and then Pit had come out of freaking nowhere and joined in.
Then they started whimpering. In sync and unison. How they managed that, Samus didn't, nor want, to know. But it was too much for the bounty hunter and she had said, "When and where?"
When was five minutes later, where was in the garden. And it was a tea-party, of all things.
"This is stupid," Samus groaned, letting her head lean back. A tiny giggle, similar to the tinkling of bells, followed her comment.
"Now, now, Sammy," Princess Peach said, tipping the tea-pot down a bit and filling up Samus' cup. "Don't be such a spoil-sport!"
"Miss Peach's tea is really good," Pit added in, already on his fourth or fifth cup of the odd stuff. He had his cup in one hand, and a chocolate chip cookie with the other, traces of melted chocolate and cookie crumbs on his lips. "So are her cookies!"
"Thank you, Pit!" Peach cheeped, her smile bright and sunny. Samus resisted the urge to sheild her eyes. She let out a sigh and sat up straighter, reaching out and grabbing the tea-cup. As she brought it to her face, she tried not to look like she enjoyed to delicate aroma at all. She gulped it down as one would a shot of whisky, and placed the cup back down.
"There," Samus said, crossing her arms. "Can I go now?"
"Of course not Sammy!" Peach said, pouring another cup for Samus. "And please, try not to drink it so fast this time! You'll give yourself a tummy-ache."
Samus scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Peach--" She was cut off as a cookie was held in front of her face.
"Try it, Miss Samus," Pit urged, his eyes too big and too blue and too gosh-darned innocent. "You'll like it, I promise!"
Samus' lips twitched as she tried to suppress the urge to coo at the cuteness. "Whatever," she sighed, reaching out and grabbing the cookie from Pit's hand. It was good, she thought as she took a bite.
"Alright, am I done now?" Samus asked as she finished her cookie, washed it down with a sip of tea.
"Not yet," Peach said. "Just one more thing~" With that, the blonde princess leaned over and wrapped her arms around Samus' neck, tugging them close and resting her head on the blonde bounty hunter's shoulder. Samus tensed.
"What the hell?" she sputtered weakly. The physical act of affection was lost on her; the unfamiliar action wasn't uncomfortable, actually. Just...new.
"It's called a hug, Sammy!" Peach giggled quietly, pulling back to flash Samus another one of her sunny smiles. "Friends give each other hugs at the end of tea parties!"
"Friends?" Samus muttered blinking. The word rolled off her tongue and it felt...nice. "Wait; we're friends? When did this happen?"
"Pit," Peach called out to the angel boy, who was watching this act with child-like wonder, and ignoring Samus' comment. "Come over here, join in! You're Sammy's friend too, aren't you?"
"Yeah," Pit nodded, before he too leaned over and wrapped his arms around Samus' waist. The boy looked up at the flustered Samus, smiling. "I can call you Sammy too, right?" he asked quietly, blinking up at Samus through his aubrun bangs.
Samus sat there, stunned, before her arm came around Peach's shoulders and Pit's back, returning the group hug as best she could.
"...Yeah. I guess."
